Elijah Long was so inspired by the water needs of people around the world that he turned his artistic and entrepreneurial skills toward making penguin earrings and then selling them to raise money for WaterPartners’ projects.

Elijah spoke about his passion for helping people get safe water at the Triangle Water for Life event in February.

“[WaterPartners] has a local contributor: 10-year-old Carrboro Elementary student Elijah Long. Elijah has raised close to $1,000 for WaterPartners, all through the sale of his unique clay penguin earrings. “We can put people under the surface of the ocean and send them to the moon, but can’t provide safe drinking water” to millions of the world’s people, Elijah says. So he’s found a way to help. His adorable creations represent one boy’s creativity partnered with his understanding of the importance of safe drinking water for other children round the world.”
