Give Thanks for Water

As you give thanks for the gifts in your life, we’d like to introduce you to Manonmani. Good health, an education, a vegetable garden, a job, time to spend with those you love - ready access to clean water makes these and so many other things possible.

Manonmani lives in the urban slums of Tiruchirpalli City, India, with her husband and two children. Her main source of water used to be a public standpost shared by 50 other families. The water flow was sporadic and unpredictable. Typically, Manonmani only had access to water at the standpost once every four days. Rarely was she able to collect enough water to fully meet her family’s needs.

Thanks to donors like you, Manonmani has clean water right at her home. With the ample, clean water, her family has better health. And personal hygiene — such as taking baths — has improved. Before, she did not have time to work. Now, she works as a tailor and brings in much needed income to support her family. The new water source also means a brighter future for her children, who will not have to miss school to help collect water.

Manonmani’s story has a happy ending. But there are many people in India and around the world still in need. But there are 884 million people still in need of clean water throughout the world. You have the power to change this.

On behalf of Kebedech and all of those we serve, thank you for giving clean water to those in need!
