Derek is an expert in pro-poor financial services with over ten years' experience developing and managing creative solutions for the base of the pyramid. Currently Derek manages WaterCredit programs in Southeast Asia. Most recently, he led FINCA Mexico's microinsurance program, including the expansion of credit-life insurance coverage and the pilot of an innovative family health service for borrowers. Derek began his career as a Peace Corps volunteer in Bangladesh.

Commitment to Water.org

Since the early days of the Grameen Bank in Bangladesh, microfinance has evolved into a thriving, global movement as well as a profitable industry. Today, keeping the social mission of microfinance in focus is more important than ever. I am excited to join Water.org's efforts to harness the power of microcredit to help thousands of low-income households gain access to the most basic of needs—a clean glass of water and a dignified toilet.
