Elizabeth Were | Program Officer


Were worked with World Agro forestry Center (ICRAF) where she undertook several research pieces including exploring role of women and men in improving rural water supplies and effect of invasive plant species on socio-economic welfare of pastoralist community. Output included publications with Journal of International Development, Entwicklung und ländlicher raum – Germany (Agriculture and rural development Newsletter), and ID 21 bulletin.

Prior to joining Water.org, Were worked with Resource Oriented Sanitation in Africa (ROSA), an applied research project aimed at understanding challenges to achieving sustainable sanitation and piloting alternative sanitation options that promotes sustainability (closing the loop). At ROSA, Were helped design and implement research portfolios which included alternative sanitation designs, grey water reuse, financing sanitation and operation and maintenance.
