In partnership with OpenIDEO, Water.org recently hosted the Water and Sanitation Challenge to develop solutions for the 77 million people lacking access to safe water and the 769 million people lacking access to hygienic sanitation in India. The focus of the challenge was to accelerate market-based solutions that enable households to invest in their own solutions in a cost-effective manner.

The challenge was conducted over a five-month period and attracted 143 initial submissions. Through feedback, refinement, and evaluation, ten Top Ideas and two Partnership Winners were ultimately selected.
