“The water has really helped us in our daily lives…I no longer have to struggle with caring for my children,“ says Carfel, from the Philippines, grateful for her new safe water solution.
Access to safe water turns fear into freedom for women around the world
Meet Carfel
In General Santos City, Philippines, Carfel, a mother of five, once relied on a few trickling spigots — and sometimes had no water at all. Her family often fell ill without access to safe water.
2.1 billion people – 1 in 4 – lack access to safe water. We’re working to change this.
Carfel took charge of her family's water and health crisis. With a small loan from one of our local financial partners, she was able to install a cistern at home.
Today, Carfel no longer worries about the safety of the water she gives her children. “Doing laundry, washing dishes, and bathing my children makes everything much easier for our family. I am not afraid anymore.“
Thanks to your support, Carfel and millions of women around the world have the sustainable safe water solutions needed for their families to survive and thrive.

TIME Ideas: Water will be the defining business issue of the decade
An article by Kara Hurst, Matt Damon, and Gary White
“Water sits at the center of opportunity in the global economy. The decisions companies make now will determine whether water becomes a barrier to growth or the foundation of resilience. The question is no longer whether water belongs in the boardroom. It is whether businesses will act while they still have the power to shape what comes next.”
Kara, Matt, and Gary explain how the businesses that will thrive in the coming decade are those that integrate water into their strategy now.
