Catching the rain

Nine million people lack access to an improved water source in Uganda. This is almost one-third of the country's population. However, the tropical climate of Uganda brings significant amounts of rain, especially during the wet seasons making useful rain catchment tanks.

Here, Nalubega draws water from her catchment tank that sits just outside her home. She uses the water for laundry, cleaning the latrine and bathing. Nalubega boils the water collected in the tank for drinking and cooking. Pleased with the solution Nalubega shared, "Acquiring a water storage tank has enabled me to harvest rain water and now I have an abundant water supply for my family."
