Income and opportunity
Kasozi and his family make their home in a village in Mukono, Uganda. While a significant portion of the country’s population have access to water (almost 75%), many of the systems are in need of maintenance or repair to function and meet government standards. In the case of Kasozi, he has a piped water connection to his home however a reliable flow of water is rare. During the dry seasons he hardly has access to water through the connection. Seeking a better solution to meet his family’s daily needs for water, Kasozi took a WaterCredit loan to install a rain catchment tank on his property. Now, he has so much water in storage, he can sell some of the excess to his neighbors. He fills their jugs at a reasonable rate, and still makes money to put toward his loan and household needs.
