An Open Well, A Daily Struggle

Each morning, this woman gathers unsafe water from an open well just outside Nagpur, India.

In the small, tight-knit communities that line the highways leading out of Nagpur, scenes like the one above are all-too common. Throughout the day, women trek back-and-forth from their homes to the local well or handpump, where they must wait their turn to gather water.

Water which may bring disease into their homes.

But, in these same small, tight-knit communities, women have come together to prop each other up, and provide solutions to their common struggle.
