Their house did not have a toilet and the practice of open defecation was embarrassing and time-consuming for her children, making it hard for them to attend school. Mrs. Nagalakshmi joined a Self Help Group organized by Water.org's local partner BWDA and learned about how a toilet could help her family's health and save time. With a small loan, she was able to install a toilet in her home. She said, "Now our children feel very happy and are able to save their time, especially in the morning when they get ready to go to school."
