Keith Stamm | Chief Operating Officer

Experience Highlights

Stamm comes to Water.org with 24 years of domestic and international business experience in the energy industry, including 10 years at the officer level. Prior to joining Water.org, he was Chief Operating Officer of Aquila, Inc.  The Aquila business units included electricity and natural gas distribution utilities in five countries including eight U.S. states serving over two million customers as well as wholesale energy and telecommunication businesses. During his time with Aquila, he led the initial public offering of two affiliated companies, one on the Australian Stock Exchange and the other on the New York Stock Exchange.  He has served on the board of publicly-listed and privately-held companies as well as public-private partnerships in North America, Europe and Australasia.  He is also a member of Engineers Without Borders.

Commitment to Water.org

Stamm was attracted to Water.org for several reasons, including the fact that its mission of providing safe water is actionable. There’s no waiting on a medical or technological breakthrough – the constraint is capital. Water.org’s targeted use of microfinance to leverage philanthropic capital, its well-defined mission, results-oriented approach and successful track record were also appealing. In addition, he enjoys acting as a general thorn in the side of “the hippies and tree-huggers” in the organization.
