What is Water.org?
Water.org is a new organization resulting from the merger between H2O Africa, co-founded by Matt Damon, and WaterPartners, co-founded by Gary White.
Water.org is a nonprofit organization empowering people in developing countries to gain access to safe drinking water and sanitation. Its co-founders have transformed hundreds of communities in Africa, South Asia and Latin America with access to these most basic necessities. Water.org works with local partners to deliver innovative solutions for long-term success. Its microfinance-based WaterCredit Initiative is pioneering sustainable giving in the sector. Do WaterPartners and H2O Africa still exist?
No. Water.org brings with it the history and assets of both organizations, but as legal entities, WaterPartners and H2O Africa no longer exist.
Why create Water.org?
Water.org will increase efficiencies and combine valuable resources to maximize the impact of each donor dollar. The result: far more people with access to safe water and sanitation.
What has changed?
Water.org positions us to operate more broadly in the sector and to have a greater impact than either WaterPartners or H2O Africa could have alone. The new Water.org Board of Directors consists of previous WaterPartners and H2O Africa board members. The water.org website has been redesigned and Water.org comes with new brand marks, including a new logo.
What has stayed the same?
The values that drive the organizations and their philosophies and approaches have not changed. Water.org will continue to deliver the same high-quality water and sanitation projects that defined WaterPartners and H2O Africa throughout the organizations’ history. We will also continue relentlessly pursuing new, innovative ways to reach more people with safe water and sanitation.
