Give to Water.org through your donor-advised fund

A donor-advised fund, or DAF, is an investment account used to manage charitable donations to organizations of your choosing. It is a flexible, tax-efficient way to support your favorite charities (like Water.org!) and manage charitable giving over time.

You can give the gift of safe water through your donor-advised fund. We accept DAF donations through The Giving Block widget on this page and by electronic funds transfer (EFT), details included below.

Benefits of donating through a donor-advised fund

Flexibility

You decide when, where, and how much to give. Donations can occur as often as you like.

Simplified giving

You can contribute cash, stocks, cryptocurrency and more to multiple charities of your choosing. Once tax season comes, it is simplified into one receipt.

Immediate tax deductions

When you contribute to a donor-advised fund, you get an immediate tax benefit. If you choose to contribute stocks, mutual funds, or exchange traded funds (ETFs), you may avoid capital gains taxes when the nonprofit sells these assets.

Privacy

We offer options for anonymous giving.

Frequently asked questions

What is a DAF?

At its simplest, a donor-advised fund (DAF) is like a charitable savings account. It gives you the flexibility to recommend how much and how often money is granted to Water.org and other qualified charities. You can recommend a one-time gift or recurring gifts now to make an immediate impact or use your fund as a tool for future charitable gifts.

How does a DAF work?

You transfer cash or other assets to a community foundation, financial services firm, or other sponsoring organization. Then, you can recommend how much and how often money is granted to an organization(s) of your choosing. You have the option to immediately give from the account, delay giving, or set up a recurring gift.

Who can open a donor-advised fund?

Individuals, families, companies, foundations, and other entities.

Is there a tax deduction?

Your donation is considered a tax-deductible charitable contribution, therefore you may be eligible to claim an itemized tax deduction for federal and/or state income tax purposes.
